Time for a New Year

Think about 12 months ago
The year was still brand new
Remember the goals you made for yourself
Determined to make it through
You promised this year would be different
Now 12 months later what changed?
Are you where you want to be today?
Did you waste your time or live a lie?
Did you make too many mistakes?
Look back on your year and your life and reflect
Are you who you really want to be?

If not, it's okay
It's never too late
For tomorrow is coming
And with every tomorrow is more grace
More grace and more love and more infinite mercy
Every morning is made new by His love

For even if you aren't quite there
If you didn't quite reach those goals
If you fell one too many times
There are never too many times for our God

But maybe it’s time to make a new promise
A new commitment to our Savior
To stick more closely to His Word
To love more
To serve more
To truly follow

There are so many things a new year can bring
And maybe even painful reminders of the past
But look back on the lessons and look forward with hope
Trust that something good is coming
Hope brings joy and joy brings peace
And peace comes from above
So live for Him and love like Him
See what changes come about

For all you know, this year could be your last
So live life like you mean it
Don't just survive and keep getting by
But thrive and live life to the fullest

I've always felt that it’s kind of cliché
That all those resolutions are foolish
But the beautiful thing about living for Christ
Is that every day is new
We’re not stuck in our failures

Every morning when you wake up
You’re still covered by grace
Still safe in His embrace
Still loved more than you can imagine

So take on this challenge
For today and tomorrow
For next week and so on
To simply be loved and share that same love with others
To find peace in His arms and bring that peace to the shadows
To share light, to share joy, and to serve like He showed us
For God knows we need people like you
To take a stand and make a difference

  1. I couldn't agree more! 💝
I love this so much and am actually going to print this and keep it to look at throughout the year.
I don't need to focus just on myself and my imperfections this year, but also how I'm being a Light for Christ and how I can affect others.
    Thanks again,
    And happy New Year!!!!
Hope this is one of your very best!! 💝

  2. Brooklyn this is wonderful! I absolutely love it! As I was reading I thought how new years resolutions are so foolish because if you take the time and the effort to get to know Christ the reality of knowing him is the simplicity and the grace is that everyday is a new day! Sure you made a mistake yesterday but that mistake is totally irrelevant when you know who Christ is and recognize the deity of what he did for you. When you take the effort to do that life changes dramatically! Bad habits start to fall, and you recognize who you need and who isn't going to be there for you and that revelation is not a setback! It's okay! You don't need to put your value into someone who isn't going to be there for you. If you have and know Christ in your heart he is truly all you need.
